Senior Accountant

Morton, Illinois

What you will do:

  • Monthly reconciliation of general ledger account balances
  • Review of expenses to ensure proper classification
  • Assist with closing of accounting records (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
  • Assist with preparation of operating and capital forecasting (monthly and quarterly)
  • Active member of enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and other ancillary financial system implementation teams
  • Review of accounts receivable and accounts payable activity
  • Approval and general ledger coding of cash activity
  • Fixed asset management
  • Supervise and facilitate the preparation and maintenance of income tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Assistance with sales & use tax collection, remittance and return filing requirements, including monitoring sales transactions and sales & use tax nexus requirements
  • Establish and maintain effective internal control structure in finance department
  • As needed, supervise, train and develop staff for AR, AP, Payroll and other financial reporting roles
  • Other duties and projects assigned by management

What we want to see:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in accounting, finance, or other related fields
  • Experience with federal and multi-state taxation requirements
  • Experience with sales & use tax nexus and filing requirements
  • Must possess and maintain current knowledge of, and accurately apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent working knowledge of windows-based office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint) along with some general applications software knowledge
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Excel to manage & report accounting data
  • Experience with ERP systems, such as BAAN, SAP, Infor (Syteline) or similar
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work with a wide variety of people in a fast-paced, changing environment, deadline driven and to perform work requiring close attention to detail

How to stand out from the crowd:

  • Certified public accountant certification desired
  • Knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
  • Manufacturing accounting experience
