Embedded Engineer II

Morton, Illinois

This position is for an embedded engineer on the Embedded Engineering team. This team develops hardware and firmware used to take electrical control of core vehicle systems, including acceleration, braking, steering, and shifting. Team members work on a variety of vehicles and gain exposure to a wide range of technologies from across the globe.

What you will do:

  • Write embedded firmware in C++ on various microcontrollers
  • Configure vehicle control systems
  • Create PCB’s for by-wire control
  • Develop control software and tune PID controllers
  • Participate in FMEA of vehicle control systems
  • Decode vehicle CAN bus communication
  • Work with a team of engineers within a fast-paced work environment

What we want to see:

  • Bachelor level engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, software)
  • 3+ years of general engineering experience
  • Industry experience writing embedded firmware in C++ on various microcontrollers
  • Extensive experience analyzing and decoding CAN bus communication
  • Knowledge of automotive control systems, including functionality of power steering, throttle and braking systems
  • Professional, self-motivated, dependable and detail oriented
  • Responsible and able to self-prioritize tasks assigned

How to stand out from the crowd:

  • Masters/PhD level engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, software)
  • 5+ years of career experience writing embedded firmware in C++
  • Direct experience tuning automotive control systems
  • Robotics or automated vehicle experience
