Application Engineer, Agriculture - NovAtel

Morton, Illinois

Application Engineering provides general product and application support for NovAtel Hardware and Software, and on related GNSS & INS topics, along with field services to NovAtel’s worldwide customer base. While part of the Global Application Engineering team, this position will have a focus on supporting NovAtel’s Precision Agriculture customers in the Midwest USA and will report into NovAtel’s head office located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The team also provides other services internally and externally to Customers, Sales, Product Management, Project Management and Marketing to help ensure the cohesive and comprehensive delivery of products and materials. Working closely with internal engineering teams ensures escalated issues are resolved in a timely manner while continuing to be the customer liaison and maintaining the customer interface.

As our Application Engineer, Agriculture based in Midwest USA, you would be responsible for:

  • Providing front line product and application support on NovAtel Hardware, Software, and related GNSS & INS topics to internal and external customers
  • Providing customer training, demonstrations, technical assistance, and technical sales support
  • Liaising with other departments regarding technical matters
  • Formulating and implementing procedures and plans for resolving problems
  • Performing software testing, verification, bug reports, and field trial coordination
  • Reviewing technical documentation materials and manuals
  • Generating application notes for frequently asked questions and knowledge base



  • Agriculture, Geomatics, or Electrical Engineering degree with 5+ years of related industry experience
  • ISOBUS CAN communication and diagnostic experience
  • Self-motivated team player with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Outgoing and energetic with exceptional people skills.
  • Multi-tasking with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, worldwide.

  • Background includes experience working directly with OEM customers, preferably in the delivery of support or services in a Precision Agriculture application
  • Background includes experience in GNSS and INS systems installation and/or troubleshooting in precision agriculture related applications.
  • Crop production background or experience
